
Welcome to the Volume Zoo! Mrs. Alonso's 5th grade Mathematicians created their own animals out of cardboard. In addition to researching facts about their animal, students calculated their creation's volume and area. #lionspride #mendhamborosd





In September, Mr. Gurczeski's 6th gr Scientists filled a compost container. From L to R, the materials were paper, orange peels, and an aluminum can. While learning about climate change, students discussed the impact certain materials have and used the container as a reference.


Seventh graders braved the wind and rain for their annual trip to Sandy Hook. Students learned about marsh and ocean environments and even had the opportunity to seine. #lionspride #mendhamborosd





Mr. Jorgensen's 6th gr STEM students competed in the Junior Solar Sprints finals, a statewide event sponsored by @Avenuesinmotion. MVMS had 14 cars qualify, the most in the state, with one team's car, "Florida Man," taking first place in the speed competition. #lionspride

Mrs. Magrini's 8th graders participated in the Pringle Ringle Challenge today. Working in a team, and using their knowledge of Science core ideas, they were challenged to create a ring out of only Pringles and nothing else. #mendhamborosd #lionspride

Congrats to Mountain View's performing arts ensembles, led by Mrs. Carpenter & Mr. McMurray, for their strong showing at the annual High Note Music Festival. The Band earned a rating of "Excellent," while the Orchestra and select Choir were rated "Outstanding." #lionspride #mendhamborosd

Mendham High School's "Girl Up" club met with Mountain View's 8th graders for their annual Big Sister event. Students had a chance to ask questions about high school and make connections with their MHS mentor, some of whom are MVMS alumni! #mendhamborosd #lionspride #mountainview

MV's 8th grs visited the Morris County Courthouse as part of the "One Judge One School" program. Designed to build relationships with local Judges, students learned about jury duty/selection, watched live proceedings, and met with Judge Jones and Senator Bucco. #lionspride

Mountain View's 5th & 7th graders visited Amercia's Grow-a-Row this week and, combined, cleaned up the prunings of 650 apple trees. In all, 130,00 pounds of apples can now be grown, yielding 520,00 servings to those experiencing food insecurity. #mendhamborosd #lionspride




Maggie Doyne, cofounder of the Blink Now Foundation and MBSD alum, made the journey from Nepal to MVMS to thank the 6th graders for their $2,777.42 donation. Students enjoyed hearing her story and asking questions about the Kopila Valley School that she founded. #mendhamborosd

As part of MHS Future Teachers Shadowing Day, Ms. Valianatos taught 8th grs how a catalyst works to speed a chemical reaction with the famous Elephant's Toothpaste! Students explored how changing variables like the concentration and/or amount affected the reaction. #lionspride

MVMS hosted its second-annual Spotlight Night, where students lead their parents in learning experiences in each Core class. Mrs. Magrini's 8th grade scientists and their families investigated a surprising and endothermic reaction using a WACK-A-PACK. #lionspride #mendhamborosd
