Bloxels is a game design program that has students use assigned colored blocks to design and create a virtual world. Mrs. Heuer's 7th grade Information, Communication, and Technology students designed heroes, enemies, superpowers, and collectibles for their "world" from their own imaginations. These games take the player on amazing adventures including collecting hotdogs, parkour, and defeating enemies!
During this project, it was important for students to think spatially in order to plan out their map and the progression of their games. Classics such as the original Mario and Mario 64 were used to help visualize the flow of a game. Students were able to play finished products designed by their classmates and give feedback on strengths and areas of improvement.
