Dear Parents and Guardians:

Today we conclude the first full week of distance learning in the Mendham Borough School District. I would like to thank you for your understanding and flexibility during this time. Your cooperation has been instrumental in the success of the implementation of our health-related school closure plan. I understand some of the challenges the current situation presents and we truly appreciate your full support.

As I shared with the faculty and staff this morning, in these uncertain times, I have seen the best of our District. The camaraderie, support, and professionalism exhibited at every level of our organization are impressive. Sometimes, it takes a setback to realize how fortunate we are to be a part of a school community that cares.

The creativity in developing lessons from PK to 8th grade, the level of commitment from the administrative team, the flexibility of our administrative assistants, the dedication of our nurses, counselors, CST members and related service providers and the hard work of our custodial staff encapsulates what #lionspride means to each of us.  I am grateful and proud to lead this school community.

As we continue to seek and follow guidance from the NJ Department of Education, we will monitor our protocols and our remote teaching and learning plan and adjust as necessary. Your emails of support to staff and administration are very much valued. I am confident that we will learn and grow from the experience, together.

Our Student Wellness Committee has created a website to support Social Emotional Learning (SEL) click here where you can view a curated set of resources that promote SEL for our students (and parents). I have also attached a resource titled 8 ways to manage stress during COVID-19 to this email.

I hope you take some time this weekend to relax while practicing social distancing and recharge for next week- stay well!

With much gratitude,

Dr. Mitzi N. Morillo
Superintendent of Schools
