Kindergarteners Chase the Gingerbread Man

"Run, run, run as fast as you can, you can't catch me I'm the gingerbread man!"

The Kindergarten classes enjoyed the season with a week of Gingerbread activities.  Kindergarteners read many versions of this old favorite and learned how to compare and contrast stories.  The unit went across the curriculum to include math, social studies and language arts. Students are also traveling around the world to experience how other countries celebrate winter holidays too!

Learning about various cultures is important to teach about our multicultural world.  Students in class were surprised to learn that children around the world celebrate the holidays in different ways.

Students were given a passport and a suitcase.  Each day the classes pretend to board a plane to a different country.   While the passengers are quietly seated, we read a book related to the county they will visit that day and learn a few of their  traditions and customs.  Passports always get stamped with a flag from the country too!

Off to our next adventure!
