On Tuesday, September 13, Mountain View Middle School's 6th graders, along with Class III Officer Behre and Detective Gobbi of the Mendham Borough Police Department, kicked off the annual L.E.A.D. program.
L.E.A.D., which stands for Law Enforcement Against Drugs, is aimed at protecting youth and communities from the proliferation of drugs, drug-related crimes, peer-to-peer/cyberbullying and violence. Over the course of the 12-week program, students will collaborate with their peers, teachers, and law enforcement personnel to complete the "Too Good for Drugs" curriculum. Lesson topics include goal-setting, responsible decision-making, managing emotions, and the consequences of drug, alcohol, and nicotine use.
