Hilltop Families!
Your child has worked hard this year developing their important reading and writing skills. Throughout the year, many skills were mastered, while others are still developing—and that's perfectly normal! Continued practice over the summer will help keep these skills sharp and prepare your child for success in the upcoming school year. Reading during the summer can take many forms—listening to audiobooks, enjoying read-aloud together, or reading independently. All of these experiences help build strong literacy skills.
One of the most valuable ways to support your child’s reading development is through conversation. Discussing books—exploring what happened, how characters felt, and what might happen next—encourages both comprehension and critical thinking.
To support summer reading, all students will receive book recommendations, a reading log, and skill work (based on grade level) during the last week of school.
All Summer reading information can be found on the website via this link: Hilltop Elementary School Summer Reading 2025
Students who return their reading log or BINGO Board during the first week of school will be invited to visit the prize box and will be entered into the schoolwide raffle.
Thank you for partnering with us to nurture a love of reading. Let’s keep the momentum going all summer long!
