Hilltop students celebrated National Children’s Book Week at the Hilltop Library Media Center and were given the option to participate in the 3rd annual READING WITHOUT WALLS Challenge. This initiative was originated by former National Ambassador for Young People’s Literature and MacArthur “Genius” Fellow, Gene Luen Yang. The challenge was designed to expand the range of books that children read. Hilltop readers were encouraged to step outside of their reading comfort zone and explore a diverse range of books in different formats (novels in verse, graphic novels, etc),  books about characters that look and live differently than them, and books about topics they don’t know much about. #futurereadylibs #readingwithoutwalls #kidlit #njasl @geneluenyang #weneeddiversebooks
