5th graders celebrate "Historical Halloween"

Teachers wore the costumes of famous people in history:

Mrs. Ascione came dressed as Rosie the Riveter,

Mrs. Lau was astronaut-teacher Christa McAuliffe,

Officer Behre came as President Abraham Lincoln,

while Ms. McCaffrey came as author JK Rowling.

The students were dressed in typically wonderful costumes, and listened as their teachers performed Washington Irving’s “The Legend of Sleepy Hollow.” During this session, our 5th graders were treated to apple cider doughnuts and fresh cider donated by the parents.

Later, Mrs. Ascione’s class solved math problems to unlock an “escape room”, Mrs. Lau’s class studied Halloween traditions from around the world, as Ms. McCaffrey’s homeroom worked on Halloween vocabulary. Each homeroom rotated to all three teachers in order to absorb the total spooky experience!

The day ended with the traditional 5th Grade Halloween Dance organized by our 5th Grade parent corps. A special shout out goes to Mrs. Appelbaum and to Mrs. Borchard for their help in organizing our activities. Enjoy the pics from our day!
